What is Pine Antiquator?

ANTIQUATOR is more than just a stain. It is a chemical solution designed to produce an ´aged’ look on new softwood timber, whilst lending a pleasant mellow colouration. It is a water-based, alkaline liquid with good penetrative power and one or more applications may be used until the desired affect is achieved.

It is safe and easy to use. As a guideline, one litre will cover approx. 140 square feet or 14 square metres.

Pine Antiquator compared to other stains

There is considerable consumer dissatisfaction with the results obtained using conventional stains. Spirit and oil based stains are not suitable for use on pine. Because of their rapid penetration, especially of end grain and chatter marks around knots, combined with their quick drying, it is extremely difficult to obtain a uniform colour. The results are patchy, with overlaps being very obvious. By comparison, Antiquator produces an extremely even finish and is very forgiving of the method of application. Being water based it is obviously non-flammable and very low odour.
