Reclaimed Doors

Whether you are replacing damaged or missing doors, or require more for an extension or new-build, Hicks Sharp & Co hold a stock of several hundred covering a variety of types (i.e Victorian four panelled, ledge and brace, 1930’s etc. and external doors).

If you are building new frames then it is always advisable to buy the doors first and then fit the frames to them, as most old doors, even if they started out as a standard size (i.e. 6’6” x 2’6”) will be found to be slightly smaller, having been shortened to fit over carpets etc.

If you are buying doors for existing frames then it is best to get them slightly oversize and then plane them to fit unless you are fortunate enough to find one that is exactly right. They also offer a paint stripping service for your existing doors and period door furniture.

Our range of reproduction period door furniture is of the very highest standard. The castings have been patterned from original antique moulds and the quality, heft and finish of these items is second to none.

If you are fitting new doors and want a really good antique finish, learn about Wood Ageing Solution, Pine Antiquator.
